What is the Business Card Scanner App?

The Business Card Scanner App saves time after meetings and events. Users take a photo of a visiting card, and the app reads name, phone, email and company using OCR.

Users check the details and save them to contacts in one tap. Cards are stored with notes and tags. It is built in Android Studio with Java/Kotlin using ML Kit text recognition.

  1. Install Android Studio and open it once so it downloads the SDK.
  2. Choose File → Open and select the project folder.
  3. Wait for Gradle sync to finish (first time may take a few minutes).
  4. Check the database / API settings file if the project uses a server.
  5. Connect your phone with USB debugging ON (or start an emulator) and click Run.
